What makes a hotel room great? Is it the plush white robe and slippers waiting for you when you step out of the shower, the great view you can see while sipping on your favorite beverage in the most comfortable chair…or is it the immaculately made bed with just the right amount of pillows and the fresh washed smell?  These photographs are from the Iron Horse Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. I started to think how can you create these same feeling in your own home within a budget.  We’ve all seen those on sale bed in the bag comforters with coordinating pillows. Some are hideous , others need a good  juzzing up as I like to say!

For this  unique home in the Caledon Countryside I used a bed in the bag from Winners, added some additional Euro sham pillows in a hot fuchsia pink colour, painted the room in a very soft grey tone and by  adding some simple artwork and the once boring room became a great oasis after a busy day.

If you want to create that hotel feeling at home…Start with something you love, a great rug, a piece of art or an amazing bedspread . Choose several colours for your room and have fun. Add some great throw pillows, some good reading lamps, an extra cozy blanket. A little chair in the corner to read a book and enjoy a glass of wine.
